Back in da Days - Cartoon Wars

I need to post something to lighten my and everyone elses spirits

This will be the first post in a new label called 'Remember When'

It will be just a listing of moments from the youth of a kid growing up in the 80's


One of my favorite things to do when i got home from school (after homework of course) was to watch TV.

Now TV evolved, as i did..or maybe i lost interest in certain thngs as i got older.


I remember watching Voltron (lions & cars, even though i preferred the lions), Thundercats, G.I. Joe, and He-Man as a yound tike.

(I cant believe i am about to type this, but f-it)


I used to take this yard stick and and 'act' like i was voltron. That was my sword. I even made the lion sounds and all. I didnt care for the cars. It was just too damn many of them. 5 lions, 6,239 cars. You do the math.

That same yard stick would get shoved down the back of my shirt at 4:30pm when He-Man would come on and I would snatch it out and say (join in if you remember):
"BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!!!!"
"I...HAVE....THE POWERRRRRR"



That same sword later on would become my M-16/bazooka as I poised it my shoulder and took aim at the forces of Cobra when G.I Joe came on. "Now you know......AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE....GEEEE IIIIII JOOOEEEE!!!!!"

And that same yard stick would ease its way up to my face as the "Sword of Omens" containing the EYE OF THUNDERA..."to grant me sight beyond sight" and then
"THUNDER"
"THUNDER"
"THUNDER"
"THUNDERCATS....HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"


The Thudercats were awesome. They had their own crib, a hot car, hot chicks, wildlife, and bad guys.

And no one ever died. EVER

HE-MAN
How many times did he spank the sh!t out of skeletor, evil-lyn, beast-man and crew. But they were always there the next day...plotting to take over Eternia.

G.I. Joe
They blew up tanks and forts and planes. And always at the last nimute, they would jump out.

And the Thundercats put such a hurtin on Mumm-Ra that he started off as a mummy in a casket.

Man i miss those times, as i am sure those of you who are smiling right now miss them as well.

Life was so simple then. Can I get a do-over????
