Notoriously Confused

Maybe its me, but when I see a biopic, I kinda expect the the actor/actress to, in some way, shape, or form, resemble the historic/famous person they are betraying.


Even though I have yet to see it (even though its on my "MUST DO" list), I see that Angela Bassett is portraying Voletta Wallace in the new Biggie movie.

I dont see it. I know Angela is a great actress, but without tons of dark makeup. Its just not gonna be convincing. I cant wrap myself around it.

I didnt concern myself with her look. Even though there is no resemblance. That movie came out at a time in my life when I was deep into any and everything related to Malcolm (I still am to a certain extent). So, I was blinded by the fact that one of my heroes had a movie (with numerous inaccuracies) about his dynamic life. Even though Denzel



looked NOTHING like X,




I still kinda enjoyed it.



When she played Katherine Jackson,







I was with it. She had her polio-limp down perfect. I could almost imagine thats what Katie looked like back in the 50's and as the movie went on, she grew on me. Being a huge MJ fan, I was wrapped up in the hype behind the movie. But that whole lineup was jacked up now that I think about it.




Lil' Jason Weaver as Michael Jackson!?!?!

The only one that looked like they belonged was the kid playing Jermaine Jackson(2nd from the right)...cuz thats his son!!!




Sheesh....



Back to Angela...



When she portrayed Tina,


I didnt bother trying to wrap my mind around it. I was too wrapped up in the movie. (Laurence Fishburne as Ike Turner was awesome...ANNIE MAE!!! I WANT YOU TO PUT SOME STANK ON IT).



Now she is Voletta Wallace



Dont get me wrong. I am dying to see this movie like the rest. Its a film about my favorite rapper, so I have to show some love. But since Voletta probably couldnt act her way out of a pair High-Top Jellies, they had to find someone else to represent her. I understand you want top notch actors for a film of this calibre, but damn. She dont look like Voletta!!! They couldnt get Whoopi Goldberg?

Who is Angela gonna play next?


That might be better for Whoopi, too!!!



And this aint the first time Hollywood has PISSED me off with actors playing real folk.

And who could forget his "Ali" portrayal of Drew "Boondini" Brown

He had the hair and everything


Sometimes Hollywood takes an actor and, with the help of makeup, creates a damn near perfect resemblance of the historical figure in question.

I guess they knew they could never make "Lazy-eye" Forrest Whittaker

Im just saying that with all the advances makeup today, if you can make this
